KVK, Hiwara Gondia(Dr.PDKV, Akola) is celebrating a week of “Lifestyle for Environment Mission 2023”. Under this celebration, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hiwara- Gondia and National Horticulture Board, Nagpur jointly organised one day training cum awareness programme on Schemes of National Horticulture Board at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hiwara-Gondia on 23 May 2023.

The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Avinash Lad, DDM, NABARD, Gondia and Mr. Sanjay Sangekar, DCO, MAVIM, Gondia in presence of Mr. Lakshman Singh, Joint Director/ Area Officer, National Horticulture Board, Gurugram, Haryana and Chief Guest, Mr. S. K. Sharma, Dy. Director, NHB, Nagpur, Mr. D.L. Tumdam, TAO, Gondia, Dr. Shakir Ali Syed, Senior Scientist and Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gondia and Dr. Vijaykumar Kore, SMS Horticulture.

In introductory remark, Mr. S. K. Sharma, Dy. Director, NHB, Nagpur briefed about schemes and other mandate works of National Horticulture Board.

Mr. Sanjay Sangekar gave his remarks about the programme and wish best luck for organising such programme.

Mr. Avinash Lad mentioned about credit schemes given by NHB and NABARD to the farmers. He also told about working of NHB along with other sectors.

Mr. Lakshman Singh, Joint Director/ Area Officer, NHB, Gurugram, Haryana gave information about various schemes running by NHB, role of NH B and other important things as a chief guest of the programme.

Dr. Shakir Ali Syed, Senior Scientist and Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gondia briefed about various schemes running by NHB. He also requested farmers to adopt crop diversification of Oilseeds, Pulses and other crops and how to overcome the difficulties faced by farmers and how to do complementary business, agriculture and how to produce maximum crops with minimum inputs in his speech. He mentioned an example of Baramati KVK, it’s workings etc. He also talked about impact of climate change on crops particularly horticultural crops. He gave so many examples to mitigate impact of climate change on crops.

Dr. Vijaykumar Kore, SMS (Horticulture), briefed about role of National Horticulture Board specially in  Horticultural crops.

In technical session, Mr. Lakshman Singh, Joint Director/ Area Officer, NHB, Gurugram, Haryana and  Mr. S. K. Sharma, Dy. Director, NHB, Nagpur delivered their lecture on different topics like role and importance of NHB, working areas of NHB, role of NHB in accreditation of Nursery etc.

Farmers also gave their feedback on this programme. They promised to take benefits of the scheme run by NHB.

Anchoring was done by Dr. Vijaykumar Kore, SMS (Horticulture) and vote of thanks was given by Dr. Shakir Ali Syed, Senior Scientist and Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gondia. In all, 90 farmers, farm women, entrepreneurs, SHGs womens, FPO members, Mandal Krushi Adhikari and officers were present to made programme successful.
