13th  Farmer-Scientist Forum Meeting.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hiwara- Gondia organised 13th  Farmer-Scientist Forum Meeting At. Khatiya, Post. Kamtha, Tal & Dist. Gondia on 24.05.2024 in the field of Mr. Pravin Khotele. Subject of the meeting was Sericulture cultivation technology.

During meeting, Mr. Lalit Tawade, Sarpanch, Gram Panchayat, Khatiya, Mr. D.P. Bhairam, Field Asstt (Sericulture), Arjuni Morgaon, Mr. V.P. Ubarhande, Senior Scientist and Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gondia, Dr. Vijaykumar Kore, SMS (Hort), Mr. M.V. Bhomate, SMS (Agronomy), Miss. Yerne, Agri. Asstt. (Khatiya) and Miss. Dahake, Agri Asstt. (Rajegaon) were present.

Dr. Vijaykumar Kore, SMS (Hort) gave introductory remark about the program. He mentioned the objectives and mandates of FSF.

Mr. Vishal Ubarhande gave information regarding sericulture and it’s importance. He suggested farmers to develop sericulture unit and take profits. He also mentioned about study tour of farmers at Beed district to sericulture units, where farmers from Gondia district were visited different sericulture units and market. He requested farmers to develop sericulture unit in the field and participate in crop diversification programme.

Mr. D.P. Bhairam, chief guest of the meeting, gave all information about sericulture right from cultivation of mulberry (Tuti plants) to marketing. In his speech, he mentioned about how sericulture is profitable to the farmers. He also told about proper management practices during rairing, like management of temperature, humidity etc. in shade, feeding time, sterilization if shade, management of tuti plants and other things. He requested farmers to take benefits from government in the form of subsidy as Govt. provide subsidy to beneficiary farmers.

Farmers also asked their queries and cleared their doubts. They demanded to organize training programmes for newcomer. Some farmers shared their experience regarding visit at Sericulture Units at Beed. Farmers also gave their feedback about the  programme.

After technical sessions, a field visit was conducted. All farmers observed how tuti plants were grow.

Anchoring and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Vijaykumar Kore, SMS (Hort.). In all, 23 farmers, members of Farmer-Scientist Forum, officials of State Agri dept. were present.
